ItsBurner
Hello !
I like to compose, produce and arrange short soundtracks destined for video games. I plan on uploading more of my work here, as I've previously used Bandcamp for my big releases.
I love the sound of the 80s & 90s !

I don't mind a reasonable amount of trouble !

Or listen on youtube !

In the velvety darkness of Stinkin’ City, each street corner whispered a story, and every alley held a melody. The year was 1985, and the city was a tapestry of tales waiting to be told, sewn together with the threads of music and mystery.

Here it is !

Gonna be uploaded to streaming platforms this week, depends on Distrokid.

What's the album about ? It's the sequel to "Diner Noir" and prequel to "1991", it's a segue and transition between both albums.

Had lots of fun making this album, it's a call back to when I wanted to make hip-hop music two decades ago on my dad's keyboard using the preset sounds and stuff. It feels good to flesh out an idea and finally tackle what you've wanted to do for long.

A Glimmer Amidst the Shadows : Diner Noir

A musical story, guiding you with chords and melodies.

Our first exclusively Jazz album !

This project is part of the "Stinkin' City" musical universe, along with "1991" and another unnamed upcoming project.

Musical Style: The album combines smooth jazz, with sultry saxophones and, blues with its soulful lamentations, and the early rumblings of rock 'n' roll, reflecting a mix of despair, defiance, and a glimmer of rebellion.

Narrative: In the rain-soaked streets of Stinkin' City, a jazz musician turned detective, Alex Solitaire, navigates through the city's corrupt underbelly to solve the mysterious disappearance of a famed singer, Ella Nightingale. His journey takes him through dimly lit diners, speakeasies, and jazz clubs, where he encounters a cast of characters each holding a piece of the puzzle.

Themes: The album explores themes of loss, betrayal, and the search for identity in a city that seems to strip away humanity. The music and lyrics together create a moody atmosphere, with tracks that reflect on love, danger, and existential dread.

Musical Style: This album captures the rhythmic flow of hip-hop, mixed with the electronic beats of synthesizers, and elements of funk, reflecting the chaotic pulse of Stinkin' City as it faces a new decade. Social commentary and personal struggle.

Narrative: Two decades later, the city has transformed yet remains fundamentally the same. Sean Turner, a rebellious teenager and the grandchild of Alex Solitaire, seeks to uncover the truth behind their grandfather's legendary last case, which has become urban myth. Shawn's journey is set against the backdrop of the early 90s counterculture, with underground raves, street art, and a burgeoning hip-hop scene.

Themes: "1991" delves into themes of rebellion, the cyclical nature of history, and the quest for personal and societal change. The music reflects the angst and hope of a generation determined to make a mark.

------------------------------------------------------------

Now this is not over, I'm looking for all sorts of musicians and producers for the link between the two albums, which shall be named "Mad Tales", set in 1988. I've already commissionned artwork.

Hey guys, Burner here !

We're finally in 2024, 2+2+4 = 8, turn it sideways and it's ∞ !

As I'm busy on most days, my musical output will be severely diminished, but it'll give me more time to refine ideas, polish and brainstorm projects, as you know that being bored at work can sometimes trigger some creativity. I feel like my sound has evolved through the different tools I've been using, different mixing and mastering techniques, different songwriting processes...and so on.

For this year I'll focus mostly on Jazz and fusion genres, I love the different ranges of emotion that can be conveyed through sound, texture and melodies, and Jazz is the perfect catalyst for that, it's free and not confined by any norms...freedom is one of my main philosophies (bordering on anarchism, but I'm an existentialist most of the time) and I express it through many means.

My personal YouTube channel will serve as a creative ground, while the albums and EPs will stick to streaming platforms.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask !

Surprise Youtube link =] ! I guess it must've dropped earlier, we were hoping for a Saturday release but it doesn't matter.

Special thanks to Surkol for writing "Chapter II"'s main melody.

A lot of sweat and tears went into this album, here's to a happy new year !

Final thoughts : "Reverb" is an amalgamation of crossing inspirations, the nexus of many different ideas.

I wanted a baroque-pop album (in the vein of The Kick Inside), our drummer wanted a metal album like Pantera (sorry but my fingers weren't built for this), our mixing assistant thought a prog rock album with odd time signatures would be just great.

We compromised.

It's a fun blend of dark, funky, heavy and still has the pop sheen we like while keeping my "Burner" signature touch (secret sauce that I'll divulgate one day)...many ideas go back to early 2021 and our sound is obviously influenced by what's mainstream, except for recently because this time we want to be the trailblazers, we want to push things forward.

We know big producers, studios and acts follow small musicians really closely, so this is our message to them.

By bringing guitars back without specifically being a rock band, we can keep the enigmatic, "genre-less" attribute. It's the one instrument that has been lacking from pop music in recent years, mainly because of the overabbundance of technology, samples and powerful VSTs (that still can't replicate even the cheapest Squier out there, just to tell you how mediocre guitar VSTs are).

That's why I've opted for adding guitars in the vast majority of tracks, it's the main defining feature of the album, and it's not a rock nor metal album.

In a way, it's about "bringing skill back". And that is why I'm putting so much emphasis on Newgrounds, there's real and legitimate homegrown talent in here that deserves a shot instead of the talentless hacks plaguing the airwaves.

/Rant

Now in all honesty, I'm creatively, mentally and physically spent. I'll be sporadically uploading short, half-mixed tunes now and then, but I won't drop a big front-to-back project anytime soon.

Thank you so much for being there since the start !

"Set against a backdrop of nostalgia and introspection, 'Reverb' delicately weaves a tapestry of emotions, inviting listeners into a realm of reminiscence. Each track serves as a poignant memoir, painting vivid portraits of moments lost in time. The album's melodies, infused with a haunting yet comforting resonance, evoke memories of bygone days, gently tugging at the heartstrings of the listener. Whether through the ethereal echoes of progressive rock, the infectious rhythms of dance-pop, or the soul-stirring harmonies of jazz, 'Reverb' navigates the landscapes of memory, offering a melodic sanctuary for introspection and reflection. This musical odyssey captures the essence of reminiscing—embracing the bittersweet beauty of the past while guiding us through an emotive journey that transcends time."

It's here :)

As many of you guys loved the guitar part, the single version only had a snippet of due to time constraints and mixing problems. About a month ago we decided to "refresh" the track to say, extra polish and more instruments.

This is an upload of the album version (which will feature on "Reverb").
